This particular engine was manufactured in 1949 - just 4 years after the end of World War II, so it's got a bit of history to it. Unfortunately, I don't know much about what the history is....
Anyway - as of the date of writing this (2020) that makes this little fella 71 years old!! NOt a bad effort - I doubt much we build today will still be capable of running in 71 years time - one thing for sure is in 2091 - I won't be around to know.
One thing I did note - you may notice on the "before" photos, there is the faded remnant of a Swastika on the end of the fuel tank. Nothing official I don't think, it looks more like someone has drawn it on in texta pen. Maybe a child after the war, or maybe .... who knows how it got there. I'd like to know, but I guess I never will.
